FADE IN:

INT. HOSPITAL EXAMINATION ROOM - DAY

In the distance a PA system is calling doctors to exam rooms.

An EYEBALL, immobile, pupil dilated wide, so blank it might as well belong to a corpse. A pen light clicks on.

FEMALE VOICE
No pupil response. Saline?

A hand pries the lid up and puts in drops. They dribble out.

FEMALE VOICE
Subject is still catatonic, no sign of
improvement. Pass me a swab.

A jar shatters. The eye briefly darts to the noise.

MALE VOICE
Sorry!

FEMALE VOICE
Wait...Did you see that?

MALE VOICE
See what?

Fingers snap in front of the eye. Nothing.

FEMALE VOICE
She's awake... I think she's awake!

MALE VOICE
Loretta Mills, you are under arrest for the
murder of Elaine Mills-

A hand waves up and down in front of the eye. Still nothing.

MALE VOICE
I don't know, doctor. She hasn't moved in six
months.

FEMALE VOICE
Let's get the EEG

Their voices fade. A door closes

Passive, strapped to a chair, is a TWELVE YEAR OLD GIRL.

But in an instant she slips her restraints, grabs a scalpel, and straps back in. A slow smile creeps across her face.
